Step 3 of 6
Bad edges
What you should end up with
Seven edges are left outside the block, and each has to be good: it can be placed with R and U alone. Bad ones are fixed here, because later it will be impossible.
How to do it
- Look at the seven edges outside the block. On top and on the bottom take the sticker on that face; in the middle layer on the right take the sticker at the front or back.
- A yellow or white sticker means the edge is good. Orange means bad. If it is green or blue, look at the other sticker: yellow means bad, orange means good.
- The number of bad edges is always even, and they are fixed in pairs. With R and U bring two bad edges to the places in the diagram and do the three-move formula. The diagrams show the top, middle layer and bottom; bad edges are purple.

Tips
›Six bad edges are just three pairs. There are few cases in all, and soon you will see them at once.
